Gmail Mastermail (App Password)

Setting Up Gmail as a Mastermail with App Password:

Before you proceed, ensure that you are logged in to your Gmail account on the same device where Skyridge is running. If you are using a server, open the Chrome browser and log in at least once to avoid potential issues.

Follow these steps to generate an App Password for your Gmail account:

  1. Navigate to your Google Account Settings by going to https://myaccount.google.com/security.

  2. Select "Signing in to Google" and then click on "App passwords." Please note that if you don't see this option, it could be due to one of the following reasons:

    • 2-Step Verification is not set up for your Gmail account.

    • 2-Step Verification is configured only for security keys.

    • Your Gmail account is associated with work, school, or another organization.

    • Advanced Protection is enabled for your account.

  3. Under the "Select app" option, choose "Other (Custom name)" and provide a name for it. For example, you can name it "Skyridge."

  4. Under the "Select device" option, choose "Windows Computer" if you are using Windows or "Mac" if you are on a Mac.

  5. After completing the steps above, you will receive an App password in the format "abcd efgh ijkl mnop."

  6. Update your settings.jsonarrow-up-right file in Skyridge with this new App Password. Replace your normal Gmail password with the App Password in the configuration file.

  7. Additionally, make sure that you have logged in at least once to the Mastermail account on the same device where you generated the App Password, and ensure that IMAP is activated for the Mastermail account.

By following these updated instructions, you can successfully set up Gmail as a Mastermail in Skyridge using an App Password for enhanced security.
